The last year passes away into the sleepless night
as I stare at my ceiling and wonder what went wrong.
Perhaps I was hasty in the words that I spoke,
but they needed to be said.

Life moves on, my friend, and this is just another
chapter of our lives that has come to an end.
I do regret it, quietly... softly...
no passionate tears flow from my eyes, no hatred burns in my heart;
Just that soft, quiet regret.

I flop onto my side and sigh bitterly as the words
echo in my mind, and the feelings drain from my heart.
I bid the tears come, but they still refuse my call
and I wonder if either of you will speak again to me.

I flip carelessly through the pages of our books
stopping here and there to relish a memory or two.
The books we wrote together; beautiful works of art...
and I can't help but feel a surge of sorrow when I reach the respective ends.

I lovingly close the books and place them on my shelf
noting how they stand out from the rest of the books I've written the past twenty years.
A tear falls as I turn to my newest book and I let it dry on my desk.
I lay my head again on my pillow and let the tears flow
Remembering...
and dwelling for a while...
In my simple regret.

Wow, that one was a hard one to write.  *sighs* To the two it was written to, I hope that we can continue to remain in contact.
Daniel, my cat is fine, don't worry about her. Good luck Ti
Andrew, I have a lot of memories with you stored away in this crazy little head of mine. I'll always treasure them. Forgive me for making this so public; chalk it up to another one of my quirks.
I hold you both close to my heart as two of the best friends I could have.
Again, I really do hope that we can remain in contact. I'd hate to see two friendships die. Good luck to you both in your future endevors, and remember: I'll always be behind you both 155% no matter what

Rhonda

That was a beautiful piece of poetry, Rhonda. Simply put, one of your best. And I don't give a damn if I'm biased, it was very well written.

I'll say more later. In private.

Woah---Rhonda...I must say! This is GREAT! (I had a MUCH larger post ready for you...but my browser hick-upped...but I lost it! *sniffles*) I mean...hah, I feel like I'm repeating myself. But this, is by far---THE BEST thing I've EVER read from you, Raiden! I'm SO incredibly...just---wow. It knocked me on my butt, JUST as hard it did with the last reply! Hahaha!

Not only am I jealous that you wrote this so beautifuly, but I'm jealous a masterpiece so grand wasn't written about me! *stick out tongue* Naw, I'm only jazzin' ya. And I'm so glad that such a tomultious timeframe could be written so beautifully. Memories are something that're NOT to be forgotten---especially ones so special to us! Hehe...I should really stop right here, before I write a few books of my own! LOL
