His eyes deep and unknown
Bright and vibrant were they only some time ago
His calm strut through the park past the gangs
His head held high, he won't take a second look

He sat next to me, our skin clashing
He speaks but is slurred with lack of knowledge
His smile takes a piece of your heart
You long to make sure hes safe

He has seen murder and drug deals
His mind corrupt by images
Things that I only see on t.v
He experiances this on a day to day occurance

We play ball and eat lunch
He helps me gather trash from the table
He tells me about his family and his school
He is so excited that someone is listening

He begs for our chocolate
In the hot sun it drips over his plaid t-shirt
His lips are stained blue from a sucker
He is the angel in the ghetto

Who can believe that his mom is 16
who can believe his aunts and uncles are 6 and 10
Ray Ray the little boy in LA who has seen a lifetime
In a short, stunted 4 years

" I think I got a tan from the light in which i was basking."

This is such a touching write.
You've done an excellent job of telling the story,
and your imagery is excellent.  I could actually SEE
Ray Ray as I read.  You made me feel as if I know
him and I just wanted to reach out and hug him.
Very nice job on this.

you have not truly met the poet.

tThis is so touching and sad that a boy so young has been through all this. Yes, God bless him

Yes there will be tommorrow, but will you be there to greet it?
