There's a PVC Christmas tree
In our school hall.
A forlorn piece of plastic foliage
Fake, and feeling it.
Synthetic evergreen limbs poke out
From mummy-like tinsel bandages.
It looks like someone has taken
Every bauble known to man
And hung it on that tree
Now bearing the weight of a thousand orbs.

Changes need to be made.
I take my lighter from my pocket
And take one last look at this tragic figure.
There is a soft "snick" as I light up.
The first branch just smokes and melts
So I hold the lighter to it until
I see a flame.

For a while
It just crackles and smoulders.
Then, within a moment
It transforms.
A torch of liberty.
It's beautiful.

The next day
The janitor finds a solidified pool
Of a green universe
With gold, red and silver stars
Exploded.

I think it's an improvement.

"I'm terribly sorry ma'am,  my karma just ran over your dogma"

This is GREAT. Humorous and beautiful, a poem with a twist, wonderful!

Yes there will be tommorrow, but will you be there to greet it?

I think it's an improvement too.

The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears.
