Lifetime of Regret

As I look  back in time,
I remember those days,
The days when I was my happiest,
The days where it felt good just to be alive,
But now,
Those days are mere memories, a wrinkle in time
They only exist as a fantasy,
And worst of all,
I ruined them.
Me and my stupid questions.
I just had to ask them,
I just had to,
Didn't I?
I ruined it all, everything
You finally liked me
And all I did was annoy you
I talked about the possibility of "us" too much
And finally
You had enough, you were done with it all
And began to like me less and less
Until all we were was friends, again
And again,
I ended up being right back where I started
Those months wasted and gone
And the only person I could blame was me,
For it was I who drove you to the edge,
Me and me alone.
I know I said everything was okay
But I was sooo wrong.
My feelings returned,
And now,
Now I live in fear,
Fear of facing a lifetime of regret,
A lifetime full of hating myself,
Because I ruined it all
I just coudln't stop
And now
Im soo very afraid
Afraid that I won't ever be able to get my heart back
Back from you,
The heart that I so willingly gave.
All I know,
Is that
I like you
And if you don't ever like me again,
I know.....
I realize.......
And I understand why.....
I will be facing a lifetime of regret

Wow...  I totally know how this goes, and I've been so close to being there.  I had a friend that me and her were like this, and then she was going to be moving away...  We were really close friends, n' we always liked eachother, but things just never seemed to be able to work out right.  But 2 days before she moved away, I asked her out and she said yes.  She lives 2000 miles away now and we're together, but hopefully I now won't be stuck with a lifetime of regret.  Thanks for sharing this, it really hits home for me.  Nice write, and welcome to Passions.

If someboy laughs at me, does that make me funny or just plain stupid?
