"That's my girl," he always used to say.
And everytime he said it
I knew what he meant
'That's my little "sister"'
He was the boy next door
The older, wiser, cuter boy,
The one that I adored.
I would always sit and dream
That someday when he said
"That's my girl," he would mean it.
He went off to college, leaving me in high school
There he met some other girl,
In one moment, all my dreams were shattered,
He introduced me as his
"Little sister, the girl next door!"
That's when I knew,
Even though we weren't brother and sister,
He would always think of me as his little sister
-------------------------------------------------

-Ok, I don't know what you are going to think of this poem, but I hope you like it! This didn't really happen to me, but I was bored in study hall, so I just started writing....

Unfortunately some things in life just arent meant to be and this might be one of them...its a sad piece but very clear. Im sorry that you'll always be the little sister nextdoor

Standing on the edge of the world
Now I don’t want you to catch me
I want you to let me
Stand up here and walk on my own

PrincessNets~
Though it can hurt and can even be frustrating,
sometimes being the 'little sister' can be a bigger
compliment than being the 'girlfriend'.
Girlfriends/boyfriends tend to come and go, but
'family' is forever.
You've expressed this well, whether first hand
experience or not.  Nicely done.

you have not truly met the poet.

I agree with Vicky, I know what it is to be just like a sister to someone. And now that I don't want more than that, I wouldn't take anything less. Very good poem!
