Hey everyone. It's been awhile since I last posted here---so, I hope I'm not rusty. Anyways...this poem is incredibly personal to me, so I'd REALLY be happy if you didn't critique this one. (I don't feel like having my feelings judged)

Xero-

Back when, summers were great…
We used to stay out, till it was late.
People used to say, we were brothers,
You were my best friend; like no other.
Livin’ it out, as time passes us by…
I’m left here with nothin’ now,
So I just sit here and cry…

Separated at birth, with different moms…
Grade 7 was a magical year; we were the bomb.
Always together, man. Hangin’ out…
You were my best friend---without a doubt.

I wouldn’t give you the respect you deserved,
But your cries for help---were never unheard.
Even when you were kicked out of your house,
I took you on my shoulders, ain’t nothin’ to cry about.

(At least…I want to say that)

Back when, summers were great…
We used to stay out, till it was late.
People used to say, we were brothers,
You were my best friend; like no other.
Livin’ it out, as time passes us by…
I’m left here with nothin’ now,
So I just sit here and cry…

Stormin’ the area; in all kinds of weather,
We’d made plans to be friends forever…
Forever’s come and gone…
We were a team; ain’t nuttin’ go wrong.

You were there for me, more than I was for you…
With you there; I was always pullin’ through.
Never did I once, give you what you deserved.
But I was backin’ you, man. Every single word.

(I really mean it…)

People used to say, we were brothers,
You were my best friend; like no other.
Livin’ it out, as time passes us by…
I’m left here with nothin’ now,
So I just sit here and cry…

Girls hurt you and you dropped outta school.
But to me, you were never a fool.
To me, you were always doin’ what was right.
Because it made you happy; I never wanted to fight.

I wanted to be like you…and follow my heart.
I never said it, but you were right from the start.
Even in my shadow, you grew into a man.
Watered with rage; You followed your plans.

(But, you never knew where you were going…)

Livin’ it out, as time passes us by…
I’m left here with nothin’ now,
So I just sit here and cry…

Marta, Kateryna and Sarah…
You took my tears, and threw them into the air…
And yet, I couldn’t be there for you…I hate that.
Making eachother smile; we were good at that.

You lay there, after poppin’ 25 pills…
The thought of losin’ you man, gives me chills.
But, I was there for you then…watchin’ you, dead.
I was there for you; and heard what you said…

(“Even though you’re younger---you’ve always been like an older brother to me…”)

So I just sit here and cry…

Wow, that was very deep and I'm sorry for your loss, but sometimes people don't want to hear that...so, I'm glad you wrote this and shared this with everyone. I have to say, I know what its like to lose a friend, but not like that, mine can still come back and stay, yours can't.
Thanks for sharing, must be hard.

Alex~
There is so much of your heart in this piece.
You've done an beautiful job of expressing your
love and admiration for your friend.
Thank you for sharing this more personal piece of 'you'.
