Waves of Commonplace

Fluid emotions
Twist and roll
I try to stay on the crest
But symbols are deceiving
The view is lucid
Standing on top of it all
But I can’t balance long enough to see
Everything is changing under me
The peak just means the break is coming

And they roll over me.
Smother me
I'm flailing in white water
Torn thoughts and feelings slam me to the bottom
And I'm stuck again in the current
Of my own blood
