It was a lovely morning, when the sun crashed to the floor
Leaving bits and pieces for her to pick up
Fire so pretty even she couldn’t resist getting burnt
“Will you remember where you were, the exact moment this cataclysm occurred?”
And she replied with closed eyes and lips to lead the next lover to his death:
“Surely you know I’ve got camouflaged thoughts”
(Seemingly enough, she was transparent that day)
No one seemed to see the aching beauty of not knowing who you are
But she could feel it everywhere
All the way down to the jittery movements she has
When it seems like moving is the only way to make herself noticed
It was a bright afternoon when she stepped outside and realized
There are people passing by who live their lives in little boxes
Where she isn’t anything to them,
And who have their own flowers to build
“Who am I to think my façade is more important than anyone else’s?”
It was a bitter idea, one so constraining all she could think was:
“All that is essential is I”.

Glory is a silent thing-- Mineral
