I have absolutely no idea what I want to do with my life.

"Be a journalist" suggests Mum
"You like to write;
You have qualifications
You could work for a newspaper".

Yeah, I could do that.
I could write of other's misfortunes
Expose them to the nation
Then walk off with a pay packet for the person's pain.

"Well, it doesn't have to be a newspaper;
It could be a magazine. You know,
The kind that teenage girls like,
That you used to like".

I could do that, easy-peasy.
I could write over-edited, patronising articles
For 13-year-olds with too much pocket money
Hell, I could even review (and pretend to like) the new N'sync single.

"What about TV? All you'd have to do is
Smarten up, speak nicely
You could be famous
Put those Drama lessons to good use"

Not a problem.
I could stand, looking pretty in front of a camera
While a house burns down in the background.
I've just got to make sure I don't smudge my lipstick.

"I give up. You evidently just don't like work in general".

Yep, I can see me as a jounalist.

PS... I don't hate all journalists! Just a little rant against society.... now I'm going to get out my banners and protest against people protesting!

In the beginning, the Universe was made. This has angered a lot of people and has been widely regarded as a bad move- Douglas Adams

Like most of your poems this is a bit weird. It's ok, but it would be better if it scanned.

I like this.  Yes, it's a bit unusual, but the title is great... kind of has a children's book feel to it.

Too bad there's no careers in poetry, eh?  That would be a dream job...

Yeah, opt for journalism.  Maybe go freelance so you don't have to work under anyone's gun.
