The Losses That Never Heal

I'll always have this emptiness
This feeling of despair
The needing and the wanting
To always have someone there.

The pain and the suffering
The scars of the heart
To learn the lesson of love and loss
Failing to listen from the start.

The loneliness and darkness
Loss of confidence and hope
Wishing for something out of reach
Pushing hard to cope.

I'll always have this emptiness
The wish of this not being real
For these are the scars of the heart
And the losses that never heal.

This poem touched a chord in me, having lost my father earlier this year. Losing one you love is one of those wounds that can never heal completely.

Death is not extinguishing the light;
it is putting out the lamp
because the dawn has come.

This is really great.
It held a simplicity that didn't deconstruct the intellegence and sophistication behind it but added to the meaning and flow.  That kind of writing is hard and you did it well.
At face value the poem is easy to understand yet reading deeper there are many other ideas and images that come into play.
Good work.

This isn't bad, Amy.  I have to admit I liked your others more than this, so far, however.  Maybe it's just my taste, but hey, c'est la gout, non?

You'll probably get a stronger response to your poetry if you stagger the posting of them.  I noticed you posted five yesterday, that's generally not very well taken.  I'd also rather have a more steady release of any one poet than be subject to three at a time.

I'm only giving you some advice.  Take it or leave it.
