Once there was a teddy bear,
Sitting on the shelf,
Of a toy store, with a boy next door,
As lonely as himself.

Then one day, the boy went in,
And saw the teddy bear,
Up on a shelf, all by himself,
He looked so sad up there.

"Oh, Ma! Oh, Ma! Please buy the bear,
He looks so sad,
I promise that I'll be good,
I never will be bad!"

The little boy picked up the bear,
And held him to his heart,
I'll take good care of you, my friend,
And we will never part!

When he got his teddy home,
He tucked him safe in bed,
The boy then took a book out,
And to the bear he read:

"Once upon a time there were,
Three little bears,
A mama and a papa,
And their baby so fair."

The little teddy bear did yawn,
And soon was fast asleeep,
He dreamned of the joy he'd found
And hoped he'd always keep.

The bear had been so lonely,
At the toy store,
But now that he is with the boy,
He's not sad anymore!
