Take some chooks two in all
tear and shred them up real small
take the bones out everyone
leave some slivers, for some fun

Add some lettuce, shred it fine
three tomatoes your's not mine
cube some cheese not Monteray Jack
We like ours sharp, like the great outback

Take some oil and with it blend
vinegar to good cheer send
add some onion cut in rings
and a host of other things

Mushrooms sliced with great panache
and then some wine - just a dash
mix it well and you will find
a salad that will blow your mind

If you wish some dijonaisse
on the side not in that place
chuck the bowl out in the sun
Your hooley dooley salad's done.

American Version

Take some lettuce and some bread
crouton style - till it is dead
add tomatoes - if you plan
and strain it out, in a tin can
add some skittles, sweet to taste
any more would be a waste
if you want to feel good cheer
use it with an Aussie beer.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Well, Hon thank you so much for explaining. I've been thinking about this salad since we first heard about it last week.

I'll take the Aussie version please. This was such a fun poem, thank you for the giggles and the explanation.

Hugs, Marti

Keth beloved heart get back in the kitchen and take your shoes off. You know you're not allowed out to play till the cooking's done.

Wonderful writing as always darling heart, now go and catch the chicken and show Denny's how to serve it.

Love and warm stuff
as always
Slushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

(smiles) Yep, I'll go the Aussie way over the American way whenever, wherever, however! (big hugggsssss) This is delightful, sweet friend, you always cook up quite a cuisine, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kethry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

YUM

I love that Aussie version, Keth... its so much more poetic than it's American counterpart.

Kethry, thanks so much for explaining this poetic recipe. I've been thinking about that "Hooley  Dooley  Salad"  for days. HAHA! I like the Aussie version better, too. It sounds good.

With Love To All,
Ethel

Thanks everyone for responding, I looked and looked but still couldn't work out what was in the Hooley Dooley salad. I think two of the most fascinating things that let me know I was abroad, forcibly, were the food served and the restroom facilities. More about that later.
