Twas but the night the moon did fail
to shine upon the coldest stones.
Upon the fall of pelting hail
the silence of the telephones.

A call did come upon one’s ear
that brought the heart to beating cease.
As one does sit in quaking fear
in wait the light of dawn’s release.

I sat before the fire’s dim flame
in wait the morn to come to be.
This fearful wait, a waiting game
to see what might was meant to see.

A glow of orange did shine between
the crack withinn the shutters veil.
Might this now be a Raven’s sheen
of whence the night did come the tale.

This bird of yore and darkened lore
that stalks these halls in waiting tap.
Can once it die and be no more
to hear that eerie soulful rap?

Till night becomes the dim of dawn
and brings to sight beyond the eyes
A bird does fly in fearful spawn
One raven dark in tapping spies.

A kettle calls the shrill of wait
to sound alarm to waiting stew.
Could this now be a raven’s fate
or will again he tap anew?

Evermore or Nevermore...that is the question!

Eerie and vivid, haunting...delightfully woven, sir!!!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Goodmorning, Magnus. Your work is so gooooodd.....I could almost see the raven and hear it tapping at the door. You can really express your feelings. By the way, I noticed that on the 10th of this month you will have been here for a year. I know from your work and your responses from the others that you are a welcome member to this extended family of friends at Passions In Poetry. Everyone is certainly making me feel welcome, too. Everybody is so full of kindness, tenderness and love. I'm looking forward to much more of these wonderful things.....

With Bunches Of Love To You All,
Ethel.....Gary's Lady

[in this case, is the  "raven" representative of "death" ? A lot of people believe that, I think]

Kris,  meaning?....certainly no true meaning,

Just the feel....

Think of Poe,  his Raven...and the mood of
his poetry...just following some of the
feeling of his poetry...
