In the beginning Things between us were great The only problem I had Was that you were always late You spent so much time Here by my side Who would have guessed That you frequently lied Your arms around me Your lips touching mine Waking up beside me Everything was fine Who would have thought That at some point in time Everything would have gone bad That you’d no longer be mine We had our ups and downs But some how we stuck together Trying to make the best of the situation I thought we’d last forever But monogamy is a word That you didn’t know So because of your infidelity I had to let you go You did so much lying And so much cheating One time I’d understand But it kept on repeating You hurt me too many times Not by coincidence So now I have to stay away I have to keep my distance I asked you If you were having fun Sleeping with other women You said “No you’re the only one” On more than on occasion You looked me straight in my eyes Told me there was no one else You kept telling me lies The word truth Is another to which you don’t know the meaning You keep on lying to everyone Not caring about their feelings I used to believe you loved me Now I don’t believe your love was true I don’t think you know how to love You don’t even have a clue "Love me little, Love me long, Is the burden of my song" - Robert Herrick |
