So here I am…

Are you listening?

I said once upon a time
That no longer would
I speak to you like this
With eyes turned
Your way looking
For what I know lies
Inside of me,
Yet now I am

Last we spoke
I raised my voice
As pain from things
I thought I’d lost
Made me scream
With the usual self pity
That comes from not looking
Past the end of this moment
So if you find it now
Uncomfortable to treat
Me with other than contempt
It is understood
For I have held you so highly
Contemptible at times
I would have nailed again
Treatise on doors for all to know
I found you unhearing
Uncaring
Unscarred by the experiences
Bared to you

Are you there?
I’m here….
Still not knowing the questions
And hoping that in someway
They need not be asked
But that the answers will
Indeed lead me
Even if by crooked paths
To what they were
So I can know at least
How to inquire
Should our paths again
Cross

Perhaps
I should petition you
To look through me
And seeing the spots inside
Disregard them,
Pointing out instead to me
What is not tarnished from exposure
To the corrosive past experienced
Ignored
embraced at times

Maybe then I would feel
There was more to this shell
Than the sum of mistaken
Misleading of mind
By my own design
Or ignorance

Are you at all intrigued,
With pleas such as this?

If you were the drinking type
I’d by you a cold one
And after a few
Perhaps you would find it in you
To shed a bit of your distance
And smile.

We could all use a smile…

Are you there?

Are you listening?

Hey...I believe.

Perhaps I should petition you
To look through me
And seeing the spots inside
Disregard them,

I have to believe our humanity and all the related frailties of flesh are sort of expected.

and?

"Are you there?"

"Are you listening?"

Today I simply cannot believe otherwise.

and thank you, Ron--I know you didn't wanna do this one--I suppose I owe you an Iamber thang now? groan...

I've got to find this challenge...
see if I'm up to it...
I doubt it, 'cause right now...
you laid me low.

Wow.

"you laid me low."

Um---is there some sort of lottery for this? Or do I just take a number?

(chuckling) Ser... now you know that was a figure of speach she was using...

Thanks to both of you for the replies... this was written under protest by the way, and not at all what I intended in either voice or content, but laziness got the best of me....so this is what you got.

Mike... I suppose you should not be pressured into either. If they are to be, they will write themselves if they are not..then they will lie in some recess waiting for the day they are.

I said once that the reason I didn't do challenges was because I tended to get very single minded about the subject and write several versions..that is true... I also usually avoid them to try and keep from mixing ego ( the need to step up to a challenge and prove I can do it, by god! ( with a grin)) and the desire to write what speaks to me... mix the two and you can get a bad case of WHY???? Why did I write this ...why didn't I write that?... why do I write? why am I motivated to post here?
We all have ego..and a desire to connect with people, that is healthy. BUt, if the motivation becomes not to pursue the words and their beauty, then again I question the why.

I love these 'lazy' posts.
They contain energizing food for thought. But as I have no time for additional personal challenges today, I'm happy to be a lazy reader.

I'm listening...wouldn't mind a cold beer either.

yeah...a cold one sounds good with a bit of jazz playing in the background or a good blues man belting out some misery...

thanks Martie... appreciate the comment and the knowing thoughts..

Ron, I lazily relate much to these verses...lol.
I like reading other's challenges but for me, they feel too much like an 'assignment'.
