My deeper sense of darkness

Is the brighter shade of black,

The road I used to walk, has gone

There is no turning back;

Oh! I have trod this route before

When rainbows led my way,

Now only dirty, drizzling clouds

Are my company today.

My empty sense of being full

Is the lighter shade of pale,

The pain I thought I’d beaten

Stains my stagnant dreaming, stale.

Oh! I can only wonder why

But not to question when,

This circle never split for me

For I’m back here again

Dream the dream of someone else

Sip the wine of hope,

Place yourself on borrowed time

Swing from bitter rope.

Cut the ties that bind the soul

Run round the crooked sphere,

Put the blame on someone else

Tis their fault you are here?

Talk to the soul – request forgiveness

Reap what’s whole- seek out real bliss.

Look inside-silent torment

Do not hide-face yourself, repent!

All the grey of September beckons

To the soft swell of smoke of the past,

And everything I thought forgotten

Sits firm, and made to last.

The echo of remembrance

Shall penetrate the sky,

In concertos of self defence

Fall fast my sorrow, cry!

My deeper sense of darkness

Is the brighter shade of black,

The road I used to walk, has gone

There is no turning back.

Samantha, I enjoyed the read, must confess I had to read it a few times to come to grips with your thoughts. You may just walk too small a circle, step wider and you will surely find your happiness. Look to the future, not back on a sorrowed past.
Happiness is not so easy to find, we all look and hope.

Sincerely
Rick

Sammie,
Awesome. We can't shed the memories of our past. Rather we learn and then move on. I really like your style of writing. I'm so glad you're here. Love the pic too.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

You write with passion and flair, Samantha!

This was a moving, intense read; a very powerful combination of pain and strength

I like your photo: that is a great suntan for someone in Kent.

Rick, thank you for your comment, it means much

Sometimes I write with sadness, sometimes not, if any sadness crept in here (laugh) then it truly isnt forefront of my mind, just but a fading shadow ~ thank you again, lovely reply,

Sadness, disappointment are unavoidable in life. Facing it with such aplomb and maturity is encouraging to all. Color will return though you seem to be able to eek out an existence with the many shades between white and black. It's good to read you again.
