We're off to Cypress Gardens,
behind old Balladeer.
Down highway fifty-two,
and Krissy has to steer.

I think she's gonna qualify
for the Indy race.
Eighty miles an hour
and she says she'll smack his face.

Lost on this concrete wasteland
in Florida's bright sun,
south on seventy-five,
and her temper's come undone.

He never heard of signals
unless he's going straight.
She's watching, baffled, crying,
"Why won't he indicate?"

He's weaving tapestries
with Krissy's nerves for yarn-
it's eighty miles an hour,
and she's not saying, "darn".

Down highway four he's driving
and now she wants a smoke.
She gave up the cigarettes,
but I'm afraid her will is broke.

Keth thinks he has Alzheimer's
and forgot that we're behind,
but regains her faith in him
when he slows to seventy-nine.

Now we're on the last leg
and we'll make it, have no fear.
But when Krissy gets him,
we'll all pity Balladeer.

ROFL!!! I love this, Pilgrimage! *S* It sounds as though a theme park couldn't offer a ride comparable to the one you had getting to Cypress Gardens... Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Balladeer-style, was it? LOL

Bally don't like airplanes,
But still he loves to fly
Down the interstate that is,
Not up in the sky

He drives poor Toerag crazy,
He drives his car too fast
One will give him headaches
The other will take his cash.

Nan...this is without a doubt the coolest thing I've read in a long time...good job gal....!!!!!!!!!! Loved it

ROFL.... I'd forgotten Bal's dislike of airplanes... that makes his flying down the highways even funnier! LOL

Pilgrimage, Texas is big but not THAT big... maybe one of these days we can meet halfway? *S*

This poem is a 'hoot' ... and after having met YOU ... doesn't surprise me one teensy-weensy bit !

Your sense of humor was sooooooooo refreshing~

And now ... could you find a moment to 'minimize' that for me ???
LOL !

I would refractal a dacytal

I should have sat in on the lesson

Lots of giggles on this one. Gosh, it is such fun hearing all about the fun time you guys had.

I was sitting in this car
The one that flew I mean
Wanted to take some pictures
But no landscape I have seen

Sitting there behind him
With eyes that were shut tight
'Cause when I dared to open them
The landscape flew like light

So I held on to his head stand
Sitting uptight at his back
Thinking of poor sweet Krissy
Trying to stick with Mack

When we arrived at the Gardens
And Krissy told him right
He played the innocense himself
But his eyes did shine too bright

Oh I love this one Nan, before and now again.
He did slow down a bit though, on the way back, didn't he???

Thanks for reading, guys. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I enjoyed the ride, actually, a roller coaster without the admission fee. And Titia, I love your poem! Hah!

Well, girls, I must apologize
Please let me beg your pardons.
I only tried to do my best
To get to Cypress Gardens.

The speed limit here is 70
The cops will give five more
So I just add a little bit
To hear the motor roar.

I try to stay near 80
Foot steady on the gas
And that is fast enough for me
Unless i have to pass.

But Isabel in the back seat
Kept talking with such force
Her breath against the dashboard
Made the car speed up, of course.

I'm sorry, Titia, you were frozen
In one spot so long
And sorry, Krissy, that you had to smoke
To come along.

I made sure you were right behind
Because, of course, I knew
That if a cop came from the rear
He would be stopping YOU!!

But everything worked out quite well
And, just like Paul Revere,
I yelled, "The British are coming!
They're right there on my rear!!!"

Nan,
ROTFLMBO What fun! Caravaning is always a challenge especially if one driver doesn't know their way around.

The 'deer is quite a driver,
When he's behind the wheel.
He'll use the throttle,
Just to make girls squeel.

But I have it on good authority,
He was qualifying for a race.
And if he drives fast enough,
The Daytona 500 will be the place.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I liked your poem. It makes me think of the time I got a ticket doing about 85 on Interstate 10. I've slowed down a  LITTLE bit since then. Ha! Ha!

Balladeer-I enjoyed the ride. Anything else would have been boring!

And thanks to everyone who read and replied-this one was fun to write. I wrote it while we were driving, and I loved Krissy's English expressions. I think I'll be at home during a soccer match or a pub darts game now!

Nan darling heart, I loved this and having you in the front seat while Krissy was driving was a delight. I loved it, and I must say I loved the drive too, and she managed to stay right behind on the way back.

Love and warm stuff
wish you were back here
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire
