A little tear runs down a chubby cheek
He hasn’t heard her voice in close to a week
A frown and sniffle, that sadness in his eyes
It hurts him so deep, don’t she realize?

We had our problems that much is true
We grew apart, what was a man to do?
But why did she leave this little man?
It’s so much more than I can stand

As I hold him and look in his eyes
I can almost see what he’s thinking

Why don’t Mama love me no more?
Why isn’t she ever here with me?
Does she have another little man?
I still care for her, can’t she see?
Daddy, I miss my Mama so bad
When’s she going to be with me?
What’d I do to make her go away?
It’s always just her, no more “we”
Daddy, I still miss my Mama

Now me, I’m doing the best I can
To show him how to be a man
Sometimes he needs a softer touch
For her that must not mean too much

Same excuses, same old lies
One day he’s going to recognize
Mama wasn’t working all the time
Then her “freedom” won’t be worth a dime
When she hears…

I could NEVER leave my kids, for any reason.....this tears my heart up....(((hugs)))

This poem was very touching and so sad. It is so hard on children, I wish they didn't have to go through such emotional stress.

How horrible for your son--and for you to watch him suffer with these feelings of abandonment. I don't know the whole story, but I do know one thing, I'm putting your son in my prayers tonight!

So sad, this made me cry. You have touched my heart deeply with this poem. I could not even begin to imagine leaving my child behind and just forgetting that I ever had a child. You and your little man are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless you both.
