Oh, once upon a summer's eve,
I wondered what my eyes did see,
For there upon my window sill,
Sat a leprechaun atop the pepper mill.

He smiled at me, trilled "Howdy do!,
I've come to grant a wish for you!"
He spun around--vanished out of sight,
"Think of a wish--I'll be back tonight!"

I hemmed and hawed 'til I turned blue,
Not knowing just quite what to do,
'Twas difficult to believe,
A leprechaun had come this summer's eve.

He smiled at me, trilled, "Howdy do!
I've come to grant a wish for you!"
The clock struck twelve--he cast a spell,
and flew me to the fairy wishing well.

I closed my eyes and made a wish,
The world spun 'round and with a swish,
I whirled through space in time untold
To the rainbow's end and the pot of gold.

He smiled at me, trilled "Howdy do!
The wish you've made has now come true!
If ever you have need of me,
Just close your eyes and count to three!"

Oh, once upon a summer's eve,
I wondered what my eyes did see,
For there upon my window sill,
Sat a leprechaun atop the pepper mill.

Chris--

Good morning!---and yes, it certainly is  humid here in Ontario.

Glad you enjoyed my "happy" write! I love writing for children, but like yourself, many adults seem to enjoy these poems as well. It helps to connect them with their inner child. In my case, I don't have to look far! hehe

A very cute poem gal...

(That was not a Leprechaun you saw
It was Toerag sitting on,
Your window sill that summer day,
I'm your Peeping Tom.)

Thankyou, I enjoyed.

You love them too? Of course you would!---and you "really want to meet one"?

Well, I'm inviting you to my home which is full of angels, there are fairies dancing on the lake, and my leprechaun friend drops by frequently and I'll introduce you to him!

Well, now, I have a suggestion for you. Buy a peppermill and put it on your windowsill.
Every night before you go to bed, it's best on a moonlit summmer's eve, turn off your light's and sneak into the kitchen. Be very quiet. Have your wish list ready!

--I hope that it will be a leprechaun that shows up and not Toe the letchrechaun! But then again, that may not be such a bad thing! tehe

Your hopes are at odds with my wishes, so I guess I'd better not depend on borrowed leprechauns, right? *G* Fun poem! *S*

This is darling. Now write a poem and tell us where the pot of gold is

Well, to be honest, I spent the first and second pots of gold already---gave most of it away to the needy. But since I've been such a very, very good little angel--I hope the leprechaun will bestow a third one upon me! If he does, I'll be sure to share my good fortune with all the readers of this poem who have left such wonderful replies!

Hmm, now what inspired this?
The peppercorns I can take,
but can I unwish eating raw ginger?

Oh, but you must not give up raw ginger! It is so good for you! It is an antibacterial, antifungal and antiinfammatory. Also a great detoxifier and promotes good digestion---to name a few!

You have brought the heart of a child out in me with this one. Wonderfully light and frolicing I feel on this very hot and humid day in Boston. Thank you for lightening me today.

It is incredibly hot and humid here as well!
I'm melting! Soon all that will be left is a pair of wings floating in a puddle of dew drops! (actually drops of sweat is more like it!!)  haha

My wish was to fly to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Would you like to fly there with me sometime? In fact, let's get all the PIP people to fly with us!

~ The next time the leprechaun comes to visit, I'll ask him if he will fly us all there ~

P.S. Make sure you bring something to put your gold coins in.
