For your insight,
for your eyes,
for your songs,
for your sadness,
for your mind.

For your rain at Calgary airports.
For your paths that pass from bridges.
For your haunted spaces.

For your name --
sleeping nearest breath;
moonlight and leaves,
speak the evening.

For your voice of silence
and violence
and your songs of infatuated distance.

Thank you, Lori, for your love,
for these moments,
our insistence.

For the wine we have not drunk.
For the beds we have not mussed.
For the books we have not read.

For traffic lights, for clouds,
for staffs of music,
for a fire.

Hot enough to melt the wait.
The end of ringing walls.

Oh love (feel me),
to begin...

That a few little blue pages
sparked such a fire...
may it never be extinguished...
and always burn in the light of your eyes...

Thank you, Sunshine. Lori and I met six years ago, before I was ever a part of Passions in Poetry, but our love has grown since -- and our little forum notes to each other are a nice alternative to e-mail every now and again.

Plus, everyone gets to see her writing!

Well now, if that doesn't leave Lori feeling extra special...don't know what will. Tender, carng words. Chris

Mike, your poetry is always outstanding, but when you write like this, about your love, I always smile, and think, damn she is lucky

Chris,
Thank you for your kind reply. I just write what I feel, and right now, I feel a large surge of love for Lorigrrl (I'm always feeling love for her, but sometimes, it gets so big, you have to write it down or go crazy thinkin' of her when you should be otherwise occupied with work and tryin' to get to Calgary!!!)

Susan, nah, she's not lucky. I am. Beyond.

Oh, the love that the two of you share! This is and of itself, a song...

The love you are expressing is downright palpable. It is so obvious that you are writing "in the moment" as you are experiencing an overflow of emotion and appreciation for Lori!

This outpouring of love is so sweet and fresh---and pure!

All those girls out there not dating poets so got the short end of the stick.

I love you, my beautiful baby. This made me smile so much. Though the wine bit is questionable.

I love you, my bratty baby. Which is why I seem to spend so much time here when I should be doing shoolwork either at school or at home. Uh.... K.

Mike... god. wow. this has so much to do with perception and character, more than poetry... but because of the former two, it _becomes_, does that all make sense? this was glorious, in its directness, honesty... god. how... ineffable? rotfl... sigh. this is so different from the metaphorical. it's solid. inspiring, really. not for its heights, but it's foundation.

~smile~ the 'us' quality of the two of you... is amazing to me. really.

thank you for this, mike... a window into a world that was becoming lacquered with clichés....

and Lori? BELIEVE me... that statement should be rewritten. girls not dating poets like mike got the short end... heh. don't get me started.

Lori, thank you. A little title reverse there. I love you tons, babygrrl. Thanks for risking trouble to read my words -- I risk trouble to write them for you. *kiss*

Liz, wow, what a compliment! Especially coming from you! Thanks! When I read your poetry,
I realize I still have much to learn.

I love that feeling.
