The letter was signed Dillon.

Iambe looked at the lines again
Reading them slowly
So as not to forget the times
In between then and now

It had been years

Filled with
scraped knuckles
Hangovers
Dusty boots
And forgetting

“So she’s doing fine
With her cooking”
Iambe said to no one.

“Good”

Tossing the letter
In the trash bin
She walked back out
To the shop thinking about
Alberts John Deer that sat
One wheel off in the drive
Waiting for her to replace
The axle bearing.

Her thoughts only once
Strayed from the job at hand
To remember with a half frown
The hot summers and how Dillon
Had insisted they go to the creek
And do a little skinny-dipping
Only to get caught by the
Brozier boys
Who got a good look
At what normally was reserved
For privacy

Damn Sister of hers
Had gotten madder than hell
While Iambe had just laughed
And teased the boys
About how they would turn to stone
For sneaking up on them like that.

It wasn’t until Dillon picked up the first rock
And hit Jason right where he was living
That she had quit laughing

There were three of them
And everyone ended up bruised
Before Dillon and Iambe
Had lost more than just a fight

Iambe was surprised
To find her hands shaking still
When she thought of it.

...and blood, being thicker than water,
still boils slow...

Ron

Very interesting scene from the past of these two...the plot thickens (as my mother used to say during a good movie)

Wow!!! Talk about love being thicker than blood, and the blood first having to be warmed struggling for it! (sigh) This is excellent, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Seems that Iambe has gotten her "edge" back.
Very, very nice.
