Urban Destruction

At the moment of life
and death is rife
with the seconds passin'
as sh*t's fallin'
I'm left wonderin'
if I've been left livin'
to determine some fact.
People be slipping through the cracks,
souls get cashed
as their owners get trashed.
Stingin' in the vein,
effort's in vain,
needles in the streets
puncturing the beat.
Where'd it all go?
The children, the innocence,
the common sense.
Left with the smack and the fiends
all grown up and nowhere to feed.
The streets run red
with the blood of the dead
and all that'll be left
are those guilty of the theft
of the right to survive
and be alive in this hood.
The devil stalks the alleyways,
the doorways, and the hallways
while the angels run away.
Where'd they go?
Uptown, downtown, everywhere but here
full of fear.
Fear of the evil.
Fear of the bangers and dealers
walkin' the streets
with death on their minds.
What am I supposed to do?
What am I supposed to discover?
Takin' cover behind a Range Rover,
sh*t's gettin' wacked while the boys fire back,
bullets in the air, magazine dropped, reload
Urban destruction is the answer
I give as I fill that fool full of hollow point
makin' my point like an arrow
shot through the heart
of every MC, fear me.

Wierd things happen when you listen to Mos Def & Talib Kweli's Black Star 16 times in 2 days.

like yourself..it seems that sanity is on the run from many a place..let's do our part on getting a handle on that run away...making sure it doesn't escape;

I haven't listened to their music even once that I know of, then again, maybe I'm just not playing the Name That Tune v.2001-02.
Pretty sad state of affairs, when nothing looks more promising than hiding behind a Rover with a power pistol.
Interesting write, some city streets really are a battlezone.
