~* I'm A Garage Sale Guru *~

Whatever was I thinking?
I must really be insane,
I’m dragging all of my belongings
to the garage out by the lane.

I decided it’s time to really downsize,
this place of mine is just too full,
there’s everything from a kitchen sink,
to Fairisle sweaters knit out of wool.

Clothes and shoes that no longer fit,
And books I’ve never read,
but the bartering with people
Is something I always dread.

They want everything for nothing,
not caring what I paid,
but I’m a garage sale guru,
one look from me, they are afraid!

They wait in line at the fence
craning their necks to see inside.
There are goodies galore on the lawn,
They all look so buggy-eyed!

Last year’s Christmas decorations,
Pots and pans, and dishes too,
each one I washed up so well,
they look like spanking new.

I wash and iron all the clothes,
and put linens into little bags.
Everything is nicely labeled
with cute color-coded tags.

I place in all on tables in a row,
hoping some order will prevail,
but when they stampede through that gate,
Man, I feel like I want to bale!

I clearly marked the price on it,
but they love to argue so,
eventually I give in by fifty cents,
I’m just glad to see them go!

Some ask me, “was it worth it?”
And this is what I always say…
“Well, money wise not really,
but they took my junk away!”

Well soon the big day will arrive,
I just need to do the final touch,
Sit in a hot tub of Epson salts,
This back is killing me so much!

~*~

I'm having a Garage Sale on Saturday, and never have I created so much work for myself.  This will be the last time, if it doesn't get bought then it goes to charity too much "stuff"

Sharon

My husband would probably buy everything you have...so glad you are too far for him, but wish I could be there to help.

Did you want a dollar then?
for this little piece of fluff?
would you take just fifty cents,
two for one on all your stuff?

The secret to a sale you see
is pricing it just right,
double the dollar sign on tags
then halve it with all your might!

The buyers then they must beware
the secret behind your grin!
You're getting all the dollars you want!
and letting them think they win!

Oh I wish I lived closer Sharon!
I would be at your gate before 6 ayem.
I just love garage sales
and yours sounds like it's done to a 'T'!
Wishing you lots of success in selling everything.
They are a ton of work..
but fun bartering and visiting with the customers.

Hehe, not right now I'm not so organized but I will be. I'm still hauling stuff out to the laundry room, but I thought of this poem, stopped, came in the house and wrote this down for you. Sunshine, I know that trick and it sure works too!  I do have everything clean, and "just so" and every time I make quite a bit of money actually.  Sometimes for charity, sometimes for me - this one's for me!     Thanks for enjoying my touch of madness~and Kit, I can't believe it rhymed, hah!

This is very cute, Sharon - But one thing I don't understand - Why are you selling your GARAGE???..

Well, if you're gonna give it to charity and charity begins at home, you may as well keep it!!

The poem is great! How I would love to be a mouse in the corner watching!!!

Nan nothing like that plop, plop, fizz, fizz, followed by an ahhhhhhhh, yep had a Lush one, it was great. Now, as your for sense of humor - well, I bet you really think you're funny right?   And Kit, you stay there in the peanut gallery and don't encourage her.

Michael I am thrilled it was not an eBay comment. I was ducking when I came in after seeing your name, LOL, there is a bit too much charity in here that is why it is "outta here".

Mysteria, I loved this and I am the one who asked if you would take less!  I think 99% of what I wear is from yard sales.  The house is full of bargins.  I just wish I could come!!! ME

I love garage sales, that is probably all that I am lugging back outside, and this makes room for more.  My favorite store is without a doubt, the Salvation Army and I am serious.  I love digging in there.  Glad you enjoyed, and wish me luck tomorrow, I am NOT bringing all this stuff back in~
