Excerpt from “To a Poet” – 2

You asked, “What is the secret?”
and truth be told,

for me,

it lies in the fact that I unwillingly
call myself “Poet”

because I hold Poets in such
high regard,

such as yourself.

It comes down to self-critique,
to get past the shy
of holding out to this world,
and beyond,
my barest thoughts

naked for all to see.

Why, for some of us would-be writers,
that in itself
is the greatest leap of faith
for one’s character…

So I unwillingly call myself a poet,
as I would rather say,

would be…
could be…

knowing that the mantle of named
honor
looks far better on you,

no matter your age,
or creed,
or faith,
or bleed…

but should you want to take me within
your fine circle,

then I can not think of any place
I would rather be.

How wonderful Karilea...
You do have the heart and soul of a poet!
I think a lot of 'us' writers/poets are perhaps a little shy and have found a way to show more of our inner selves through our writing....perhaps....yes.

(big hugggssssss) There is a saying from Paul Valery, a remarkable French poet, who says, "the poet is a peculiar kind of translator, who translates ordinary language, modified by emotion, into the language of the gods.". This quote has long deeply influenced me and makes me believe we all are born to create, to live like we are but perceive like gods. (sigh) This is wonderful, sweet friend, poetry is kind of  a faith and creed that we all hold and once we feel it we truly become enlightened of that beauty! (sigh) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

You, my dear muse of muses, are indeed a P-O-E-T!!!----one of the first degree!

This truly is a great little series of yours on what it means to be a poet. I'm loving it!

Well, I'm off to read part three! See you in a bit!
