~Gasoline Dreams~

With a new coat of makeup
lipsticked and polished
having dined on her favorite meal
of gasoline dreams
"well preserved" as they say
this old lady purrs softly
as she glides down the highway of life
and into the memories
of those who knew her well
when she glistened
fresh and brand new
~

Funny, cause sometimes I'll see an old car like that and I wonder about the person that first owned it.  Musta been a great feeling!

(giggles in delight) And when you just want to be with that nostalgia and cruise down the lonely road, who could blame Sammy Hager that he can't drive 55? LOL! This is cute and wonderful, sweet friend, though I never got to grow up during these times I can feel te spirit and freedom of that time, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light alway shine upon you!

A very classic car and just love the bright red. Sadly, they don't make 'em like this anymore.

I had a lot of fun with this. Hope each day finds you feeling better and stronger.

The PiP'ster's prayers are going to get you to FL even if it wears our knees raw.

Hugs, Marti

Thanks Duncan... I have always bought new cars for myself... but, when my son was in high school, we bought him a used Geo Spectrum, and on the title...it had the history of ownership and it just so happened that the very first owner of that car was someone who had worked for me about 15 yrs earlier.  Life really does travel strangely sometimes, doesn't it?

David says I'm a classic Jewish American Princess... I guess you can say that about me.
I am looking forward to meeting you soon.

There was an old car show in Kalamazoo the other day, and these old ladies were all over the city...  They sure have aged gracefully.

Thanks so much, Noah...
When I was in 3rd grade, one of our neighbors had a car that looked a lot like this one.  Its so interesting how styles change...  I remember my dad having a chevy with huge tail fins.  I wish I had a picture of that one.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the poem...
As of now, I am definitely planning to go to Fla.  But I am taking my crutches, my cane and even my walker with me, so its a good thing we're driving.
Now... I hope that it stays fairly warm because I have to wear dresses as I can't bend my leg enough to get into jeans or slacks just yet.

Thanks Jeff...  Sorry to disappoint you, but there's no deep story behind the poem.
I just happened to see this pretty car while flipping through webshots, and I remembered that a neighbor had one when I was a little kid.  He was a young man, probably in his late 20's or early 30's, but I was about 7 years old and he just seemed so sharp to me... and he was always driving this red convertable and bringing his dates back to his apartment...
It just got some gears turning... thats all
