...spawned by the photo in Mysteria's "I Have Been In Their Flutter" and another photo of an old, wrinkled man from Russia/Ukraine that I've had for years...
Soul Beauty

Life looks back at me, mirrored by glass and silver;
do They see what I see - which is truly me?
Is it the overindulgence of things eaten throughout the years,
the ravages of age, streaks on my cheeks from yesterdays tears;
the love that carried me through till now - my questions of God -
the gray in my hair, more gone than there - or that of my beard,
the lines around my eyes, the spots on my hands,
the voice that answers questions though no one's near?
Or is it the sparkling eyes, the ready smile,
the youth of life carried through time and space,
the love still burning solar hot, the soul still seeking Godly grace -
the stately gray of well aged heart,
the questions spoken from an active mind,
the inner-being ageless as time,
a baby, a child, a boy, a man.
Life looks back at me, mirrored by glass and silver;
do I see what They see - which is truly me?

JW, our wavelengths are about the same...I
do something very similar once in a while
when I have looked into that mirror or
have seen an aged face that I know was once
young...  Thanx for this my friend...I
relate well to all you have written...
including the loss of hair...especially that.

Earlier today a young boy shouted “Mister” in the street, it took me some time and several swift glances, and I’m sure a very puzzled look, before I worked out he was talking to me.

So it took me no time at all to understand what you were saying, thanks for the chance to read.

Well done. I understand and have wondered myself, but try to ignore the question. And the mirror.

Very touching and thoroughly enjoyed. Chris

Jimmy

I know this feeling from my own mirror.  The real of you, this touching of reflection, touched me.

Well Jimmy, it's been awhile since I have had the pleasure of reading your words, and I sure am glad I didn't miss this one.  A beauty it is.........

If I have touched one heart through my words, then I have acheived my dream...

James...I also find myself looking in the mirror quite often and thinking about the past and the man I have become, and then I tell myself I am who I want to be..ME.
Thanks for the good poem...Paul

thee

for who you are inside is who you are...your outside is just your shell

the lines in your face reflect the dominant moods that have graced your life...you do have those laugh and smile lines, right?

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

"the questions spoken from an active mind,
the inner-being ageless as time,"
This is just one small part of your total being that I always enjoy interacting with here at the board.
What a wonderful poem.
