The depths of your heart
became your art,
as you bled life's emotions,
with intensity and fiery passion
as you caressed every stroke,
every hue...
every bit of you
poured onto the canvas
for all the world to see.
I would wish in my lifetime
to feel for just one day
the passion for life
that enraptured your soul,
that painted itself
in vivid yellows and blues,
intense reds and greens,
in all the hues of
life, love, compassion.
For the art of the heart
is still you, Vincent,
and your colors
will always be true.

How rich art is; if one can only remember what one has seen, one is never without food for thought or truly lonely, never alone.
Vincent van Gogh to Theo
Laeken
15 November 1878

Kacy,
Are you sure it isn't the art of the EAR?

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Kacy- As I read this  I was seeing rainbows, as I finished I felt like crying. Now my heart just wants a big hug. Powerful write. I like it a lot.

Just off to sleep but ya know this caught my attention.  I will have to reread that book when I'm unpacked.  Seems an odd quote though, from a man to whom lonely was first nature.

Yes. LOL, the ear might come to mind at first, but 'twas his heart that he painted with. Did you know his father was a minister, and that Vincent also studied to be a minister before he discovered art was his calling?

Kacy...Oh fountain of knowledge,
Finally something I do know. Seems I fair better on this topic than on music.

Kellie, glad you liked this, and thanks for that reply.

Duncan, yes, I thought so at first reading.
Yes, 'tis time to reread his Letters to Theo.

Larry, you are funny. Now you are calling me a fountain? Nah, I just know what (and whom) I really like...

Magnus, thanks. I'm smiling at your reply. But I can handle Larry.
