~* I Have Been In Their Flutter *~

I have been in their flutter,
and felt the warmth in their passing,
so moved by the gentleness of a stroke
on a tear-stained, cold cheek.

Bitter ice began freezing my heart
and I heard singing through my muted cries.
and they spoke through that coldness
warming and melting with words of love.

They have held my hand in guidance
leading me back from the ledge of life,
to the very core of understanding
and a calming sense of forgiveness.

How overwhelmed we are when
caught in their brilliance,
refusing to be extinguished
in the bowels of darkness.

They accept us as genuine, unique
pass no judgment as they see
through to the very core of us,
into our hearts and mend our souls.

No wings or halos adorn their heads,
and there are no flowing white robes,
or auras of light that draw you near
but even still they are angels beckoning.

They're in moccasins, army boots,
dress shoes, some barefoot, rich or poor.
In turbans, babushkas, lion cloths or suits,
and maybe someone you just met today.

Yes, there are the angels on earth
who will always keep the peace,
for they all dance to the same tune,
burnished in their souls through prayer,

It is called ~* The Golden Rule *~

~*~  The Golden Rule  ~*~

The ethic of reciprocity is found in the scriptures of nearly every religion. It is often regarded as the most concise and general principle of ethics. It is a condensation in one principle of all longer lists of ordinances such as the Decalogue.

The most valuable thing you own is a smile, wear it, and share it.

You often hold the world in your poetry, and this is once again a fine example of just that...your vision encircles all of us, and for that, I thank you...

I am so humbled right now.  Out of my league in this poetry forum.  A friend suggested I go on line and see if there was a way to share my poetry. Said I should take it more seriously but.....Wow.  "I have been in their flutter and felt the warmth in their passing" Thats beautiful.  Thanks for sharing it. I've read half a dozen poems here tonight and they have all been very good. Sometime I'll try something other than rhyme. I think!

Nancy Lee ~ Ahhh, thank you for your kind words.

Fishop ~ You sound like I did over a year ago.  This site is intended for writers of all sorts - all levels of abilityand I am sure you have a lot to contribute.  I will definitely be watching for your work.  Trust me it is a joke around here about my rhyming, but I don't care, I rhyme "my way".  Welcome to Passions - look no further you found a home to write where you can indeed feel comfortable and a part of a community.  There is no "league" here as you are among friends.

Martie ~ I just love your hugs and your flowers - thank you so much for being you.

Me? I don't joke about your rhyme. It takes a special talent to rhyme "steamship" with "kangaroo"!! :supergrin"

I'm kidding! Whether you rhyme or not, there is one constant in all your poetry...it is heartfelt, sincere, and beneficial to all who share it. This one is no exception. It is a glimpse into a beautiful mind and I'm so glad you are at home with us here

Kacey - I could not agree with you more.

Michael ~ Hey, I will teach you how to rhyme my way any time you want   Now you know I AM kidding! LOL, remember when I corrected one of yours?  I am still laughing over that one.  I am definitely in a comfort zone, thanks to the likes of you!

p.s. thanks for the gif - take any of mine too, LOL

Sharon ... you've touched my heart with this piece my friend. Beautifully flowing, and composed with the wisdom and lessons of life I so appreciate in your writing. You've inspired me to write a little something myself today.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Sharon ~~ no words from my heart could ever convey the warmth and depth of this magnificent poem.

So many times I feel inferior to you and some of the other poets of this sight who produce words and thoughts that are magical and of the highest caliber.

I am awed and humbled to be in your presence dear lady ... hugs, Marti

Every now and then take a good look at something not made
with hands -- a mountain, a star, the power of the ocean.
There will come to you wisdom,

You are very special people here, and for some reason this poem must have hit a nerve in some as I received some lovely emails from members but the most important one I got was from someone on the "outside" who wrote to me from a place called, Orzhytsya in the Ukraine.  I cried when I read it, and talk about being humbled...she said the picture I used looked exactly like her grandmother who was tortured and killed in the Second World War.  She said the line were I spoke about the babushka finally opened up her mind to all the feelings she had kept inside for far to long, and it finally made her cry for all the family members she had lost, but it also it made her feel that she was finally good enough and important too.

I want to say to everyone openly here, I never thought for one second I could write poetry, but it just comes and I am glad you like it.  As for you Martie, I am going to come to Boston and give you a big hug girl, and that is a promise.

Wonderful write my friend on a very important subject that more of us in this world need to learn about.  Hard as it is and often as I've fallen, I try, as I know you and many others do...but that's what's important, isn't it...TRYING, the only failure being the lack of trying...
