The Sea Witch

The anchor’s bill fails to set hook
into the rocks below;
it’s come untethered from its ring,
set down on a plateau.

It’s late into the foggy night,
a storm brewing offshore,
the sailor aboard this small sloop,
thinks his boat is secure.

He’s enrapt in conversation
with a sleek, sultry gal
from the Sea Witch docked alongside,
they are heading for the cannel.

Drifting away from the lagoon
and from his safety line,
can’t afford a single mistake,
he’s forgotten this time.

Corinne

You gonna just leave me dangling...what happened?  The sea can be so powerful, you set the stage for a disaster in the fog of this love story.  Very well told!

BRAVO!!! Oh Corinne, this is wonderful but so very sad, sweet friend, sadly so many of these incidents happen and my heart goes out to all he lovers who miss their sweetheart sailors in disasters like these! (big hugggssssss) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

This is an ominous beginning. Surely you're not leaving me here?

Corinne ..... catching up, by scrolling down, and low and behold, a poem about things nautical that I'd missed. I thought to drop you a note (it's been ages since our work crowded ... see our most recent) but discovered that that is not possible. When did that happen? All is well? Bob
