Message from the World
September 11, 2002

A flag is flying from my upstairs window
which looks upon a street for all to see
So they will know I mourn as an American
and though I'm far from home, I still believe...

I still believe in why that flag is flying
It represents the birthplace of my youth
The hopes and dreams that I was born and raised on
But most of all, it represents the truth...

A year ago today, events were tragic
The world looked on as under God we fell
but only to our knees, and not forever
We've risen once again, as time will tell...

Although today is sad in it's remembrance
I see the USA is not alone
Free nations of the world have re-united
and out of tragedy, new strength has grown...

With smiling face I walk outside my doorstep
My flag flies proud above this British street
And as I look around, my eyes are opened
onto a sight that knocks me off my feet!

In windows up and down, our flag is flying!
Those stars and stripes of red, pure white and blue
The message from the world is clearly given:
It reads:

"You're not alone, we stand with you"

Thank you! We are united in our grief. Sad but united all the same. I wonder will the tears ever stop today? Maybe they will cleanse the spirit some. I can only pray that they will.

Oh, WhiteRose, I think that time will diminish the tears, but not the pain we feel as a people.  But it does help to know that all over the world we have friends who care, and understand.  We can take comfort in that today, and from now on.

THANK YOU!

It is comforting to know that we stand united as a nation
and throughout most of the free world.

Many flags fly freely today.

Hugs, Marti

Sunny, thanks for this. What an inspirational thought, that all the way in England, our flag flies today.
(And I was never patritic, either!)
