What is Aging for?
By Larry Chadwick
Just found this poem written in October of last year. It was written in honor of my dad and now reposted in his honor.

If living forever is what it’s about,
Then what is aging for?
Death is something that causes doubt,
But not a thing to abhor.

It’s the ebbing of the time,
As it slowly slips away.
It goes so slow we don’t mind,
There’s always another day.

Suddenly we wake up and see,
That aging has happened to me.
The time it went by so fast,
How could it possibly be?

Now I’m facing my final days,
Reflecting on all I have done.
I think I’ll be just fine,
I fathered my three sons.

October 19, 2001 (Written in honor of my dad.)

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I love the last two lines of this one, Larry. So selfless, and admirable. I'm sure that your father would be VERY proud to read this.

Larry... A wonderful Tribute.

The days they pass so fast
Never knowing which one will be our last
Years passing like grains of sand dropping from the hour glass...Paul

Kacy,
Thanks. I forgot about this poem written last fall. The irony of some of my poetry and its timing relating to the topics and my losses...

Kris,
Actually, he did. It was written last fall. And thank you for such kind words.

Paul,
Thank you. A tribute written before his death.

Zall,
Welcome to Passions. And thank you for your kind words.

Noah,
I know you're right. Thanks.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

The ebbing of time, how quickly it passes..
seems like just yesterday doesn't it?
Ah Larry, your words are such a comfort.

Thank you for leaving your thoughts in my mind.
