Potpourri
By Larry Chadwick
I could never have imagined what this year would hold. Starting with the twin towers and ending with a personal double loss. But it was no accident I came to be in a place that would give me the strength and courage to survive it all.

This is a collection of verses from various poems and one added verse.

We struggle to recall a moment in time
Remembering each part makes the whole.
But we'll collect all the moments we can find
Making our own patchwork for an eternal soul.

Then a moment explodes in front of us
Created for all by the terrorists of time.
Building blocks of complete distrust
Leaving permanent images in our mind.

Next I am robbed by life itself
Twin towers in my own family.
First it was my precious daughter
And then my papa that are history.

Now I struggle to recall moments in time
Remembering each part makes the whole.
But I'll collect all the moments I can find
Making my own patchwork for an eternal soul.

So let us sow while we are able
That we may reap when we are not.
And in the mean time let us
Thank the Lord for what we’ve got.

September 1, 2002 (In memory of all those who died 9-11-01 and of my own twin losses, Ginger Michelle and Papa.)

Profound, sound advice.

"So let us sow while we are able
That we may reap when we are not"

Good morning hugs, peaceful thoughts. What a year, Larry. I think this past year I cried more and laughed more than any other single year of my life. Now, off I go to sow! (and I don't mean to meet a pig )

It is Passions who is grateful that one year ago, a bright, intelligent, giving gentle man came to grace our blue pages.

I welcomed you then.

I thank you, now.

Warmly, Sunshine

Though the anniversary is bittersweet...it is us that "celebrates"-- for it is us who have been fortunate to learn from your examples of grace, dignity and humilty.
Youre a class act my friend...thank you for all that you've shared in your year here.

Its amazing how tragedies overlap, Larry...
I know its been a horrible year for you too!
My cancer was diagnosed a week after 9/11...
and so I feel this same sense of foreboding about it...

JM,
If I have contributed here, it has been from my heart being drawn out by yours. Thank you so much. You have taught me so much.

Nancy Lee,
I have neglected all my friends so much lately. You are ever so faithful and important to me. You have such a good heart Cheery attitude and a wonderful smile. Bless you dear friend, always.

Sandra,
Yes it has, and me too. But you know I still have so much for which I can be thankful. Thank you for your support. I still can't figure out how you are old enough to be a grandma. Must be that picture is an old one.

Lyra,
But life does offer wisdom with its pain. It isn't all loss. Hang in there.

Chris,
I can always use a cheering squad! Thanks.

We are a stitch in time...
a weave between the folds
we're a friend to make
a treasured moment to hold...
a heart on bended knee
in silent prayer

and I am so glad I crossed your path~~
because I've never told you enough
what I should have told you long ago...

One year ago I met a "gentle man" and a friend.  We both know someone who works in strange ways, and we both had him for a friend.  He also brought me here for the same reason as you, and for that I will be forever grateful to him for I too could not have gone through this year without Passions and the support of friends such as yourself.  Congratulations on your milestone Larry, and my sincerest heart hugs to you in what has been a terribly devasting year for you.

The most valuable thing you own is a smile, wear it, and share it.

Larry, Congratulations on your one year anniversary at PiP. It is truly a place of love, inspiration and compassion.

My friend, you have had a year like none other and I am awed by your strength and resolve.

God Bless You ... Hugs, Marti

Kit,
I don't know how you do it...the poetry and the administration. You excel at them both. And on top of all that you make time to be a friend besides. You have truly blessed my life and it is so appreciated. Thank you. And thank you for such kind words.

Toe,
Would you like a burger with those fries? Thanks friend.

Marti,
Right you are about this past year. And thank you for such kind words. I fear you have been a better friend to me than I to you. My apologies. Thank you so much for your support.

Keth,
Wow. And all the way from "down under"! You have such a gentle giving heart. I'll always like that about you. Thank you sweet friend.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
