Lessons Lost

Can you see beyond tomorrow,
Past your selfishness and pain?
Have you no remorse or sorrow
For the ones you've hurt, through gain?

Do you not see peril looming
Through your egocentric lies?
Is your focus so consuming,
That you cannot hear their cries?

Are the small rewards you garner
Worth their sacrifice and grief?
Did you know your actions linger
In their hearts without relief?

All the words that you have spoken,
All the chaos you have shared,
All the hearts that lie here broken,
Could, in theory, have been spared.

Had you thought beyond your vision,
Past the fix of your desire;
Weighed the cost of your decision …
All would not be dark and dire.

Yet, it matters not in hindsight,
For the past cannot be paused;
No amount of thought and insight,
Can repair the ache you've caused.

Lessons lost and chances taken,
Through your quest and countless sins;
Innocents have been forsaken,
Damaged by your thoughtless whims.

Ripples from your careless action,
Filter out beyond your hell …
Tell me … where's the satisfaction
In the heights from which you fell?

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Kit, this is so heartaching, sadly so many never learn from their lessons and sins and innocence is lost forever in their hearts and much of it is all based on what one of their loved ones says that should never have been said! (sad sigh) I wish for them all to break through and find that one special something in their hearts to believe and try and ignite the spark of innocence, sweet friend, this is a sad but wonderful poem, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kit, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

boy do i relate to this one....but....if i was able to break free of it and "succeed" than it is possible.  As long as we have or should i say.....as long as we learn to allow love to enter our lives....it is possible to overcome even the most horrendous of childhoods.  Trust me.

For the past cannot be paused;

I wish the past and the present could be paused for times which we enjoy... Wouldn't it be nice?

I really enjoyed this piece, Kit...it was so full of meaning

Oh wow, this is so true. Why do people only see what happens in the near future and not the distant future? It's very painful to see someone fall when there's no one there to catch them. Very painful Kit, and so powerful. Well done.

Kit...Your words of hurt & wisdom shine through here. It really makes one think...Paul
I know this poem can be applied to many different circumstances, but I read it like it's about the blood sucking people of the world that take advantage of un-aware and innocent kind hearted people, such as the elderly and our innocent children.

Kit,  these are true and humbling words of
raw humanity....  You have said well what
many think each day...when they wonder...
and wonder...and wait in agony...

Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments everyone, and lol @ Michael ... no, this is not the one that you inspired - that's only half done, I'm working on it though.

This piece was actually a reflection on someone I care about very much, but their constant and careless actions continue to have a negative impact on so many others I love dearly. Just a some venting, I guess ... wishing I could wake them up and make them see what they are doing to those around them.

I'm sorry I'm not able to thank everyone individually this time, but I truly appreciate all your comments. Thank you everyone.

With much appreciation to all,
/Kit

This packs so many truths it's almost painful to read... and can be appreciated on so many levels... from the very personal to a look at the world around us. *S* That's what I call a wonderful write! LOL
