Answering Serenity's challenge:
"A drowning man is not troubled by rain."
Persian Proverb

a drowning man
is not troubled by rain
if drowning in tears
from a heart filled with pain

or if drowning in sorrow
with a bottle of booze
trying to forget
the paths he must choose

drowning in debt
takes away thoughts of gain
and hampers his mind
so he can’t see the rain

drowning in quicksand
leaves him helpless and fraught
it steals all the joys
and that for which he was taught

yet, drowning in flood
of a pitying soul
takes away any chance
of keeping him whole

so why should the rain
have an ounce of affect
for its influence, of course,
is too hard to detect

I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Yipee!
This is a great write!

All those drownings...

Hugs, Marti

Every now and then take a good look at something not made
with hands -- a mountain, a star, the power of the ocean.
There will come to you wisdom,
