Doodles

I’ve been writing
for a while, now
because I thought
I might have something
to say

So, day after day
I sit with pen in hand
Doodling

Making scribbles
Gesture drawings
of women I’ve known
things that I’ve feared
odd happenings in my life

All the while
hoping that the thing
that needs to be said
spills onto this paper

But when I examine
the damage, I’ve done
to this poor parchment
for that thing
that wants to be written

All I see, is more crap

And I think to myself
if all I’m going to write
is this dreck
couldn’t it, at least
be pretty

In reply to "which way do we go?", the answer was never "straight", but, "progressively forward".

Oh I am sure it is beautiful. Even if the feelings of your heart appear ugly to you, or just crap as you say, they are rare and special to those who are reading your heart.

Now there you go, telling me what you think I want to hear...

wrong.

Keep writing.
You never know how others will look at it.

doodles can be charming and disarming...a stream from the unconscious where dreams are born....each original, and a piece of art, really.  Keep it up!

I hope you don't just doodle and scribble on scrap pieces of paper! If you do them in a notebook, then you'll have a book of gems that can be the fodder for future masterpieces of your art and writing!

Enjoy your work!

I relate to this...at times,  I just erase
what I have written...and start over...and
sooner or later, usually sooner...poof!

Out spits something that others enjoy...

I think you do this too....let the critical
eye bring growth...as you have done with
just these words...

I think you should use those doodles along with your poems...  Maybe we could figure out what they mean...

Well, Ed, there's something to be said for honesty, don't you think?

Enjoyed reading this!

The muse isn't always pretty, Ed,
but she still whispers.
What's she saying now?
