Near golden sunsets

0 posted 2002-09-08 05:46 AM

I found him buried in blue
Blisslessly buoyant in a cup half gone
His eyes were lost in unseen clouds
Lines tracing pain across his face

The cup swirled once and twice
in speculative motion, frothing and sinking,
the memory sipped away in timely disgrace.

I turned away as he lowered his head
with tear-shook irresolution
And I waited for the grief to seep
into the musty, bar-darkened air.

At last, he raised his head to look
into my own tear-glazed eyes.
With a single understanding nod
We both reluctanly rose and crawled home.

artfully woven save for the 'tear-shook' seems that it should be 'tear-shaken'

It is an extremely clear view of an ill-fated attempt to dull the pain.

Good job.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

many would just as well drown their sorrows
rather than face more blatant truths...that comes through here very well

An interesting sketch. Drowning sorrow with suds, a very common sight, unfortuantley.
Well done, masked man.
