Shall I journey on, past fields that have so often wept?
Forward, to the receded shores, out past the break line to the surf
Shall I carry on the waterfalls to rivers, in their mighty surge to full extent?
Without you, only bedding for the dunes and the winged spirits playground

Shall I seek the comfort of the trees, in their wisdom and their mighty strength?
Motioned, only ledge and charcoal dust, too thick a blanket in their deluge
Shall I walk where once we warmed in play to chase the rainbows with butterfly nets?
Without you, only floors and carpets, wilted in the dry and desolate silence of the fall

Shall I walk, through the clay-capped paths into the desert?
Onward, without drink and without rain, thirsting for the moisture of your kiss
Shall I fall, bruised and broken in the cracked and aging outcrops of a sad tomorrow?
Without you, only restless sleep and dreams of gray would thin the heavy-hearted air

Shall I journey, shall I fly, in linen finery and feather light a bubble swept?
Upward, to the stormy clouds above the weighted temperatures of sullenness
Shall I fly, into your thoughts, impressed upon our palms in strong contented currents?
Shall I fly? Shall I...fly?

You DO fly, as does your poetry...
it is so pleasant to read your words...

Kathy,  hop onboard this magic carpet I have
and I will take you high into the atmosphere
that you might spread your wings and fly,
fly wherever you might desire...

If I told you that I used to dream of flying
on many occasions...would you think I was
just a bit teched in the haid.....

Kathleen,

if your wings are there, journey
and if they're in disrepair
time will heal
new plumage will erupt
and you will fly again.
