Elias walks alone at night, through darkened woods precarious,
On needled path 'mid shimmering pines, man-child with gait temarious,
As light of heaven's stars above, fall on life's desolation,
Elias waits not for the dawn, walks on in isolation,
Evening breezes whisper forth, chanting through the trees,
Softly calling out his name, in muted repartees,
Into the brush a rabbit steals, moving quickly thither,
Elias pauses but for an instant, as darkness calls him hither.
