The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2002-09-06 09:21 AM

A deep clean breath without the haze
a hint of coolness late in days
an early morning chill is there
to remind us of autumns where.

Though heat still filters through the clouds
and trees are decked out fully proud
a few leaves turn a brilliant red
and squirrels stock up winters bed.

Soon there shall be a brilliant glow
of color everywhere we go
this season I wait for all year
Autumn does fall, the time is near.

Yes, my favorite time of year as well. A sense of renewal. A dark of sky that soothes the soul. Very nicely done!

I've always felt that I was at my best, in the Fall. But this reminds me that I still need to put in some wood (my only source of anti-freeze).

Nice one Sandra.

In reply to "which way do we go?", the answer was never "straight", but, "progressively forward".

"...Autumn does fall, the time is near."
I love this line (and all of the ones above it!). Next to spring, autumn is my favourite season...and your poem is what fall is all about for me.

Ah, yes, "the time is near"---thanks for the sneak preview!

See, fall has fell
it cold as ----

I love this time of year, too.  I think my reasons are different than yours though.  Here it signals the end of 95 degree daze and the beginning of deliciously cool daze in the 80's.

I swear that I am going to move North one of these daze

The days do grow shorter.  The leaves are always wonderful.

Thank you.
