venetian blinds filter
strong rays from the sun
as they bend flowing light
into alternating bands
of bright and shadow
   hope and despair
   deep and shallow
   open and masked

much like the icons of emotions
we wear in disguises of happy
over various layers of sad
dressing pretence of richness
over poverty’s sharpness

and the daily newspaper
rumbles like a volcano
filled with hot lava
top headlines of the day
of politics, of religion,
of theft, of cheating,
of rape, of murder
symbols of inhumanity

and yet somewhere inside
there are happy stories --
(of a favoured football team winning,
a popular princess getting married
a new music album released)
-
cleverly planted
aimed at giving hope
to the masses who read
this  t e x t  of  m a s k s

life’s riddled with masks
some worn outside-in
some worn inside-out
some stored to be worn later
and some worn all the time

Well now look at this, a common everyday newspaper being a text of masks, after all...

very clever, Sir...very clever, indeed!

Amazing job, Sudhir. I'm one of those who gleans music album news as a sign of hope (Coldplay's latest, this time), so I know exactly what it is to be led, and to follow.

(smiles) Oh Sudhir, this is wonderful, sweet friend, the newspapers are filled with too many masks; ones of editorials and political cartoons and the weather, then there's always ones we create for ourselves of lighter notes! (big hugggssssss) This is an excellent response and wonderful wisdom, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sudhir, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
