If you found nothing,
would you kiss her soft,
or force her away
to take care of herself?

If you found nothing,
a stilled ember dropped
from the tops of the trees,
would you ask her please?

If you found nothing,
a mirror's refrain
staring at her
in yourself again?

Oh, I've found nothing,
and it's a drop in the sky
free of the rain.
Free of all light.

Thanks, Anne. I'm trying to whip away this subtle lace of sadness over me today. Arrrgh, I keep writing poems in responses!!! Subtle lace of sadness?!

*ahem* Thanks, Anne.

you, my cherished poet squirrel...
always make something out of nothing
You make poetry ... oh how you make poetry.

In the space between now and then
I lost the fire, lost a friend
and Ill never be the same again
Still, I believe in the innocence
we gave away.

subtle lace of sadness

An excellent phrase off the cuff there Mike. So, tell me, is your muse perhaps open to offers of, oh I don't know, money, candy, pies, cookies?

I know you just posted this poem, but I didn't like seeing the "0" next to your title--"Nothing"---but I have to admit, it did sort of fit! Zero is nothing! HA! HA!

Anyway, you now have "something"---with this reply, you have a "1" next to your title "Nothing"----by the time I finish this reply, you may have 2 or 3 or 4...next to "Nothing"!
---maybe you should change your title to "Something"

I got called away during my reply----and I was right!---you did get lots of responses while I was writing mine!

----people go nuts over Squirrel's poems!

Mike... now it can be said that you wrote something about nothing...and by the very act, made nothing into something.

Oh, nothing, am I.....
this is marvelous, but I think I've told you lately,
you've just been getting better and better....

I'm glad you all enjoyed this small heartbreak. Well, not so much a break -- just a tear.
