Bill!  Bills!  Bills!
They're coming out my ears!
I never seem to get ahead,
I'm always in arrears!

Charge cards make it easy,
To spend more than you've got,
Before you are aware of it,
You've bought and bought and bought!

Bills, Bills!  Bills!
They are a constant dread,
Whenever I have paid them off,
I'm soon back in the red!

The deeper into debt I get,
The more I want to shop,
So I've been on a spending spree,
But this has got to stop!

Bills!  Bills!  Bills!
I wish they'd go away,
They added up so quickly,
And now I've got to pay!

So, no more plastic money,
I'm cutting up my cards,
It's cash on the barrel,
No longer will I charge!

Okay this made me laugh Though, I suppose in reality it is a rather depressing thought. But so many of us are in the same boat, and it's sinking fast. Nice write. I really enjoyed!

Linda,
You have a way of making me smile,
even when I'm not in the smiley frame of mind.

What I love about this poem is the honesty,
creativity,
and strength behind it.

It's obvious you've taken charge,
rather than made a charge.

Yes EA,

I've been thinking about this myself lately.
We are like serfs tied to the land except they're credit cards. As long as we continue to charge we sell ourselves to the America's corporate giants. They are laughing all the way to the bank. Real freedom is time and the more we owe the less time we can call our own. The slaves built the pyrimids, and most people will be working now until they drop. Little difference. Yes, we are the most productive country in the world. Is this a good thing? Work, work, work. I think the europeans have it right, one to two months holiday, health care and a devotion to family. I think we have forgotten that the goverment is for the people and by the people and that business exists to provide goods and services for the people. When are we gonna wake up and realize that we as a culture are living to serve the corporate agenda and that this agenda is based on greed. Unfortunately, our goverment has become a tool by which corporate america controls. Sorry, you got me going.  Great poem. Love it!

Hey, Linda, this is great...funny and a great rhyme!!

LOL! SOme people think that when they charge and get in debt, it's the credit card's fault...like the little piece of plastic sprout arms and legs, grabs them, and forces them to the stores where they are bludgeoned into filling their carts with junk! ...and then it's the country's fault for having the stores to shop in...everybody's fault except the person on the shopping spree. LOL! What a country!

As for me, I can resist anything but temptation

I guess I am lucky now..since my husband left me...we had two credit card bills (same company)that I had to ignore since there was no way to pay them off at the time...I intended to pay them once working...so for the last 2 years(almost) I havent used a credit card or a check...last month I got a collection notice in the mail...called them up, (scared sort of) finally, since I felt I could make a payment now..and they  wiped off 45% of one  bill and 55% off the other and said  after I make  this last 2 installment payments, my credit will be good again and I can use the cards..which I won't. If I haven't needed to use them in 2 years, I think I can do without them now. I may have to have one for emergencies but it will always be paid off monthly if used.

So, that is where I now stand with  credit cards and Bills...I now just have  my mortgage and utilities..and they are more than enough. *s

great poem, by the way *s

I loved this one, Linda....
It absolutely perked up my day... because it reminded me of when I first went away to college and my dad gave me a checkbook and taught me how to write checks...
That was in the days before Mastercard and Visa (thats how old I am)  but he never taught me how to balance it and didn't even tell me how much was in the account.  He just said that whenever I needed anything, I could just go out and write a check for it.  Of course, thats just what I did, and then I got the phone call telling me that I had bounced all of these checks and I didn't even know that a piece of paper could bounce.
He finally got around to telling me how much money I could write in checks every month, and we got things almost under control.

Its a good thing they didn't have credit cards in those days...
