A ball of flame a flash of light
Ends another fateful flight
The stout hearts of heroes made
Dull the fanatic’s vengeful blade

We all cried upon that day
But soon it will be filed away
We could fill a billion graves
And still no difference would be made

We’ll write their names in a book
They’ll not be given a second look
A few thousand more lost in vain
Added to hall of shame

Yet another massage sent
To rid the world of discontent
Always true throughout the years
Evil finds disgruntled ears

I had prayed this act would be
A kick in our complacency
To change our ideology
For the betterment of man

We instead buried New York
With half measures and double talk
And the world is still the same
Consumed by hatred, bitterness and pain

I would just like to say that in no way do I intend to devalue the lives that were lost. I just dont think enough was done in the wake of 9/11. One year on and Bin Laden is still at large and the world is the same as ever.

The emotion has wained since the attack tis true. I wish the emotion that was rampant the weeks following 9/11 was ever present but unfortunately we have our "lives" to go back to everyday. I share your sentiments though. We should feel the same way always and value our lives and others all the time...not just in bad times. Thanks for voicing your perspective Zall. God Bless!

And these words break my heart. How true, how sad! Everyone wants change, everyone wants peace, no one is willing to make a small sacrifice to get it. Seems our world is totally consumed by greed and self interest. Pitiful!!

Zall, I agree that not nearly enough has changed in the wake of these incomparable tragedies.
Who is to blame, I am not even sure. I used to blame the government for everything. But I am starting to wonder.Let us all hope and plan for peace, best as we can.
