Ling Ling is one of my cats, she's the one I gave my mom shortly after she came to live with me. Mom's been gone now 4 1/2 years, but Ling Ling keeps her close along with the other cat Mom already had when she moved here. Ling Ling is a long-haired, brown seal-point colored, Balinese cat.

Discovery

it has come to my attention
Ling Ling enjoys a pattern
when summer’s on the edge of morn
she keeps her distance
plucking tufts of hair
to cool her heels
and skin
that she might survive
the days ahead

yet, now
as summer draws to a close
she is entering her autumn

those lovely moments,
when she seeks my warmth,
have finally come again
she allows me
to affectionately
carve a niche under her skin

drawing near
she peers at me
with snuggle-lust
in her eyes
then awaits my invitation
to cure her sweet sighs

a gentle lift
she snuggles there
upon my lap
beneath my chin
and waits until the warm is where
it inspires her silly grin

then off she goes
in leaps and bounds
to play and laze again

I like dogs myself, but watching cats fascinates domestic and wild (i spent a lot of time in africa) Animals of awe inspiring power and grace, making humans seem mundane.

You captured the warmer side well in your piece,

Good work,

Aaron

hehehehe, thanks, White Rose and Zall for reading and commenting, and such fun, encouraging comments, too. Glad you both enjoyed.
