The rains have returned,
After summer holiday
Of grasses brown burned,
Reservoirs almost empty,
And dusty long days.
The nights begin cooling down
As green spreads across the ground.

Trees drink the sky tears
As warm play ends for children,
Hair cuts and clean ears
They return to class again
To harvest learning
From ancient books and teachers
As the year turns in colors.

Skies are softer grays,
Crystal blue and clouds fluff white,
Skies of shorter days
That rush quicker into night
Over color change
Trees tinge with yellow and red
Preparing colorful shed.

The rains have returned,
As warm play ends for children,
Skies of shorter days.

Gloom

This is a format found in my research,
which I’m not sure is an actual format and I don’t seem to find a name for it,
but it recurs often with minor variations.
Choka stanzas ending in a Haiku made from each stanza.
This poem would be a single, but three more Chokas and another Haiku could be added.
Actual lengths of the Chokas doesn’t seem to matter (I picked all mine of seven lines),
Just the theme should be about one subject.

Prof. Gloom - this is very unique and enjoyable. Nicely done indeed. Chris

Professor

Felt in rhythm, almost like a song.  Lovely!

Thank you, Enchantress,
Pleased you liked it, just something I found will scanning poetry
From other sources, looking for a touch of inspiration.

Thank you, Nightshade,
Glad you liked my humble words.

Thank you, 1slick_lady,
A shadow can creep anywhere, it’s the noticing that matters.
Pleased you enjoyed my sight.

Thank you, Martie,
I couldn’t tell by the references, but it might be a song style,
Especially the multiples.
Your words are insightful and kind.

a very intereting read indeed. And a familiar topic too.  Got one buzzing around inside my head from 22 years ago... gonna post it soon... when I can remember it all. Thanks for the reminder.

Being a sky watcher I enjoyed this very much. I've painted many skies and have yet to capture the beauty God creates with a simple brush stroke of nature. Love this poem Gloomy

The White Rose~
A simple expression
of classic beauty.
