My nephew was a boy of ten,
Of the crop, he was the cream,
But his claim to fame,
Was his baseball game,
For he played the All-Star team!

He looked so proud in his uniform
As he grinned from ear to ear,
He did his best
And he beat the rest
As "Best Player of The Year"!

His hope and aspiration
Was to play pro-ball some day,
So he gave his all,
When he played baseball
As he dreamed of the great Blue Jays!

God bless you Chad.  May you enjoy the beauty,
peace, and the light of heaven with all the other angels.----Love, Aunt Linda

Gosh Linda,  threw a fastball at me,  and I
had to step out of the batter's box and
call time out...

I am so thankful I have my children,  and that
I don't have to wake up each day,  counting
another day...without someone so precious
in my life...

Hugs to you and to his family.....

Magnus---Thank you for your caring response and I enjoyed that bit of humour thrown in there. It helped me---I was still crying when I read your reply. I was going through some of my earlier poems and came upon this one. I felt moved to write it in the past tense now that he is no longer with us. We were closer than many mothers and sons. He was my sister's son and he always referred to me as his Second Mom---which indeed I was. Thank You. I feel better now.

Noah---It has been unbelieveably painful losing him---he was only 18 when he disappeare without a trace on Lake Ontario. Neither he nor the other 5 boys were ever found. The documentary "Vigil of Hope" is still seen quite often, here in Canada.

How sad. It may feel good to keep his memory alive, but so terribly painful at the same time. My heart feels heavy for you, and for the other families who are forever tied together with yours in this tragedy.

Midnitesun---What kind and comforting words. Thank you. This tragedy in my life also had a profound effect on my writing as well---At times I draw on those memories of pain,  loss and sorrow---my pen writes dark and dreary. Fortunately, I don't stay in that place very long.

That was a beautiful dedication to your nephew... He is hitting them out of the park up there now.... You have expressed a young man's dreams well here....

Sherry---Chad was a phenomonally talented athlete. Not only did he excell at baseball, but after only two months of martial arts training, he came in second place in the provincial championships held in Toronto. In highschool he also won top athlete of the year awards.

Thank you,

Oh my goodness! I couldn't imagine losing someone so young. I have 3 babies and I would die if something happened to them. Nice tribute! God bless you and your family.

I'm so very sorry for your loss Linda. I know of nothing else to say. I too, lost a nephew once, but he was only 5 years old and was very sickly from birth. I know my pain was great at the time, but it simply cannot compare with the loss of someone so close to manhood and so beloved by you. *Hugs*

Tammy--I'm so sorry for your loss as well--losing your nephew when he was 5--how terribly tragic!

Never finding Chad's body makes it so difficult---no closure. My sister also lost her daughter, Kelly Marie Louise when she was a baby---medical complications in hospital! It breaks my heart! Then my sister was hit by a hit-and-run driver who went up on the curb where she was walking and she lost the twins she was carrying. Oh, I can't write about this anymore. I'm starting to cry again.

Thank you for responding!

Earth Angel,

To live is to feel but, we sometimes wonder why it must be so painful. So let this pain serve three things: l. that you are reminded of the fragility of life 2. that you honor his spirit having crossed your path in this short life 3. and finally, to find comfort by committing to make the most of your life in memory of his.

Bless you
