A young man asked his father
a strange question one day.
He asked his dear Dad,
"Do you love me today"?

The father was shocked,
"Of course I do son,
you're very special
in my eyes, number one.

What makes you ask this
today of all days?
Haven't I shown you
in so many ways"?

The young man took a moment
and thought about this.
Then he said to his Dad,
"There are things that I missed.

There were times, dear Dad
when I needed a hero,
someone to tell me
I wasn't a zero

There were times I shed tears
not manly I know.
I needed you Dad
to help me to grow.

You were always so busy
going here, going there.
So now I just wonder,
did you really care"?

Now into the picture
the grandson appeared.
He came up to his dad
and drew very near.

In a voice but a whisper,
he said, "Dad I need you".
His Dad said, "I'm busy,
go away till I'm through".

The boy then did ask
of his father that day.
"My dear Dad, he asked softly,
do you love me today"?

WhiteRose~
This is a very poignant piece~

I know a man who remembers the FIRST time his father ever said, "I love you, son." ..
the father was 71 years old ... and drew his last breath uttering his affection~

You know what ? ... Out of everything his father ever taught him ... nothing has more meaning to him than that simple (very NEEDED) phrase~

Life doesn't always give us the chance for 'make-up' calls~

I love you ... should be said to someone, somewhere ...
EVERY DAY~

Thanks .. guess you got my motor purring with this one~

Oh my,  but this one really reached inside
me in more ways than one...

I have felt these feelings, had these same
thoughts...And I know that a young woman
could ask the same thing of her dad...

My father and I were very distant for many
years.  The love was/is there,  but was not
expressed for the longest time.  I guess
that is why I try hard to give to my two
little ones some of those moments I did
not experience...

Thanx for this,  it reminds me to do
something...To pick up the phone and call
him,  letting him know I love him...

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Anne, this is so very sad, I know this feeling so very well for me and my dad were very distant at some times, especially when I was going through depression and I was abused and I asked for his help but he told me to leave him alone and do it myself! (big hugggssssss) My heart goes out to all cnhildren who are neglected of their needs, sweet friend, I wish all parents could be consistently close to their children, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Anne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
