              Time Traveler

    A smattering of forget-me-not hours
       a pinch of past history
a dash of glimpses of the future
       concocted with great care
the Time Traveler traverses his own eons
and makes his life chronicles breathe

Which portals to pull open today?
shall it be glimpses of a graduation dance?
a peek at sensual first touches?
a quickening glance of a past Christmas
where brothers sat in footed pajamas
sisters clad in cuddly-bear tunics, bedazzled by tree lights?

It sweeps with cyclic retrospective revelation
a tidal wash of nevermores flitted in anterior heritages
seen thru eyes: limitless starpoints of beloved keepsakes
epochs with evaporating recollections endure somehow
kept meticulously alive by relived memories
interludes of seasons, split with careful footsteps
thru the known and the yet unlived -
       there are infinite perpetual pasts
       yet to abide in again for the Time Traveler;
           sadly pitied in the present,
for existing too long in pasts

I know better than to think that this lovely was written for me, but O how it speaks to the time-traveler within...

How delighted I was to read this, and as delighted to pronounce it a

Very, very fine piece, ShadowRider! I really enjoyed the read, and we can be time travelers...to the past anyway. And yes, there is danger in doing so too often, but memories are good things, surely they refresh and strengthen the bonding the events created in the first place.  Yep, lovely poem that is well-crafted, too.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Morning Karilea *s*  naw, written for all who harbor a tucked away memory or two; i am at fault for reminiscing way too much, and like HG Wells, throw the throttle back on the past in hopes of reliving some good times.  I would be happy to write a poem for you, Shine.  Just need a topic.

And VAS, I was much taken with your response, as that was precisely the intent of the poem, in the way you phrased it.  It is a comforting thought, in quiet hours, just to sit back, letting thoughts drift to a man (or woman) we once were, and the biographical chapters we once lived.

Thankx to both of you, very very much.

Jeff

To travel back is to learn from an excellent teacher, if we listen.

The last stanza really wonderful, the whole poem meaningful to me...a traveler to many places in time.

Jeff,

This carries a strong message in the end
about pasts....  Yes,  one could certainly
stand there and be stuck in that moment
of time....but with courage can we learn
and go on...on into the present and mold
our futures....

This topic is one which I totally can be
taken in by....Time is not the enemy,
our mind is...

Oh what a gorgeous write, Jeff...
Time is so relative... and we actually are time travelers except that we don't have a gear for reverse.  Maybe thats what memories are though.  I have always found it interesting that everything looks sweeter when viewed thru the eyes of memory, than it really was when it was happening...

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Jeff, you always write so wonderfully, it is indeed very important to travel back though it depresses me when I go back because pretty much everything was depressing to me when I was a boy especially in previous Septembers! (sigh) I pray that in the future ahead I will be very happy then would never hesitate to go back! (sigh) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jeff, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
