Labor Day

What of those
without a job,
in lieu of Labor Day,
do they
still kick up their heels
for naught of slave away?

Perhaps
they should be working
to contrast their leisure ways
then might they receive double time
for laboring a holiday?

For how does one
take a break
from a life fraught
with naught to do
but to perhaps
fire up their stance
and work as in a zoo?

If it were me
should I spend the day in savor
of pulling weeds
and other deeds
to celebrate one’s labor

The economy’s improving
some are prone to say
but for those
who have no job to do
it’s hard to see that way.

Now as a substitute teacher,
I like these holidays,
for I can enjoy my leisure
for there’d be no work
anyway.

just perhaps, dear Virginia,
that being 'without'
is more labouring
than those who endure 40.

cleverly, smart,
incisive piece, Va.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Virginia, this is so very smart and witty, I love it, we all need a little work but a good deal of leisure too to balance everything and to have that one last breath of relief! (sigh) This is powerfully said, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Virginia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Beautifully written and I love the humor in it, Virginia...
If my son had been born one week later, I would have had my labor on Labor Day

Very cute Vas. I should have known you were a teacher with your keen eye for proofing and compositon, not to mention your fantastic outlook.
