Missed Opportunities
By Larry Chadwick
For Ginger Michelle & Papa too

You know what I miss most?
The chance to hear that laugh.
And I really miss the opportunity,
To walk down that wooded path.

You know what I miss most?
That call we made most every day.
And I really miss the opportunity,
To always hear what you had to say.

You know what I miss most?
Being with you on Instant Messenger.
And I really miss the opportunity,
Of that special time we’d share.

You know what I miss most?
The snail mail that you’d send.
And I really miss the opportunity,
Of reading your letters that had no end.

You know what I miss most?
Knowing that every day for me you prayed.
And I really miss the opportunity,
Of doing the same for you each day.

You know what I miss most?
The chance just to spend time with you.
And I really miss the opportunity,
To experience the affection I always got from you.

But you know what I really miss the most?
What I really miss the most is you.

September 1, 2002 (I’ll see you there.)

Sue,
I heard someone use that line today: "You know what I miss most?". And his answers were quite trivial, I thought. So I got to thinking. And by the time I was done writing also crying. But it's okay. Wouldn't it be awful if I didn't miss them?

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Larry~
Your words are so fine tuned,  I've missed the deep meaning and undying love within them.
You are a thought in my mind...always.

It is the little things, the moments of just being together whether for real, by mail or on IM.  I understand this so well, Larry.  You certainly made me feel it.

There is nothing more human, than to feel your pain, and understand, and accept that which we cannot control.... Life and Death are entertwined forever. The best I can hope for is that our souls are also forever connected, for I cannot think of a better ending, than to be forever connected with the people whose hearts are so filled with LOVE, as is yours.

it's something I can't even imagine...Larry, this is a very touching poem, and it brought tears, to just think of my own daughter, just to think of what you are going through still. I pray for you.

Larry,

I believe we all look back and reflect on
what we miss or missed or missed out on
because we didn't do something with that
special person we miss...

I do believe you gave a lot to her...and I
believe she gave a lot to you...  Yes,
you should miss her....and it is wonderful
that you do...that says a lot...about you..
and about her...

I understand, Larry. I miss the chance to tell my Dad I love him, cause we were somewhat estranged when he died.
Beautiful piece.

Karilea,
It certainly got my tears going. Thanks dear friend.

passing shadows,
And from experience, may I say, you have a pretty good idea of what I feel. And thank you so much for your kindness.

Bill,
Thanks for your support. Sorry I haven't stopped in lately. Just give me a little more time. Thanks.

Barry,
My poem is about the things I used to do and no longer am able to do with my daughter and father. We truthfully missed few opportunities while they were here. Sorry if I didn't communicate that so well. Thanks for your support and understanding dear friend.

Sandra,
That would be especially difficult. We did all those things and I miss the opportunity to do them again. Courage and peace to you sweet friend.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Walking in the woods, kicking up the leaves, you seem to be alone because you hear no other footsteps than your own. But know that she is near...    Her footsteps are just so light that they are not easily noticed. You are not alone, you are loved, and the grief you feel transends the veil, indeed it is felt here around the world. We cry here with you, for you, and all that you miss.
